ATI eyefinity is limited but I still want

ati-eyefinity-6-monitorsATI’s ‘eyefinity’ video cards support up to six displays allowing for a combined resolution well above what a single 60″ LCD display would give you (yes, I know the physical size of the single display matters not, but I see people ask, why wouldn’t I just use a giant TV instead).

Many of the lower end ATI cards support DirectX 11, yet they only have ports for up to 3 displays (and only two of those can be used at once - I dare you to find that in their marketing!)

Multiple cards can be used together in a single machine for a single virtual display. AMD says they’ll be able to chain together enough of their eyefinity cards to create a resolution that approaches “eye-definition optical clarity” at 12 times HD 1080p. With a combined resolution of 268 megapixels, AMD says it’s similar to a what a human eye sees in a 90 degree sweep.

I still have the problem with screen edges in my field of view! Bahh, this is about as useful as ATI crossfire and Nvidia’s SLI. Yes, two card are better than one, but the price is astronomical compared to the performance enhancement.

While I still watch the price fall on my current Nvidia card, now i’m eyeballing the ATI cards and price on another Dell 24″ monitor too!
