Can you detect an ATM skimmer?

Posted in Evil , hardware

If you’re thinking of ATM skimming as clunky hardware that’s easy to detect, think again.

The presentation found in the link below has some great examples of hard to detect skimming equipment.

Taped on hardware and bulky card swipe gadgets are a thing of the past. Good thieves use expensive equipment that works and they don’t get caught. They’re like ninja’s in that no one really knows if they exist.

It’s probably safe to say there are even more sophisticated ATM skimming add-ons to be found in the wild.

The only ATM guaranteed to be secure that you’ll find might turn out to be something like this at the corner of James Street and Fenwick Street:
old-atm
