Is the recent acquisition of Bumptop going to make its way to Android in some shape or form anytime soon? This week is your last chance to pick up a copy of BumpTop, the 3-D Desktop for Mac and Windows.

Google Picasa is available as an rpm and deb for Linux. You can get it from google package repository if you already have that installed, but the latest version doesn’t appear to be available from there just yet. This app is run under a self contained wine installation.

I just logged into my gmail to find “buzz”, a new feature integrated into my gmail. I’m not quite sure what to think of it. Other than google, I don’t think anyone wants status updates in their gmail, but perhaps I’m wrong? I’d rather see Wave integrated, once it stops hiccuping of course.

Comcast will continue to share what we learn with the Internet community, particularly with the IETF, for the benefit of other users of the Internet. Did you know that you can send SMS text messages from Google gchat? Right from your email inbox window, you can add the phone number as a new contact. Here’s the response I received when I sent a message to someone’s phone recently:

I can understand not including the support by default. No need to create bloat, but I want flash support, so here goes… Install gnash-plugin, create a plugins directory under chrome and create a softlink to the .so file. about:plugins will show your shockwave flash plugin. Here’s some test sites to test it with.

Why is it that when you click the “I’m feeling lucky” button on google without typing in anything into the search bar, it displays a large countdown timer that peels off a number each second? It seems to be a count down to the New Year. But why choose this instead of just a random page or something else? I hit the button wondering if it would just take me to a random page on the web, just any old page would do, but it gave me this timer instead. Why?!
