Effective use of the claymore in Modern Warfare 2

codmw2-125x125Scavenger is an often overlooked perk, and many times for good reason as Sleight of Hand’s reload speed and aiming speed in the pro version mean the difference between life and death for a run-n-gun offensive player. Marathon is a no-brainer for stabaholics wielding the knife attachment on a hand gun or running with the care package.

But Scavenger has its moments too. It all depends on the loadouts of your teammates, the map you’re playing on, and probably most important, the game type. If you love firing rockets and throwing grenades, then add the claymore as an option for your equipment selection. Here’s the methods I use with claymores:

1. Build a fort

Set up shop in one part of a building. Plant a claymore by the door, then use any scavenges from the people you kill with your primary or secondary weapons to add more claymores at other entrances or near the same doorway. If you plant the second claymore so that it gets blown up by the first claymore, you can increase the range by facing it in another direction. Sometimes I plant them facing each other, then even ninjas that run past will get blown up by the second claymore when they finally trigger the first. The only problem here is people that use Sitrep (I use sitrep almost 100% of the time!) because they can see your garden of claymores from anywhere on the map and hear your trudging around the room. Just be careful not to camp anywhere near your claymores because one noob tube through your doorway will light them up.

2. Random acts of violence

Plant your claymore some place, any place, and forget about it. When you run around and hear your stock replenish, plant the additional claymore right there at the dead body. You can have 3 or 4 at a time, but don’t worry, just plant them when you find them and move on. Many people look for claymores near doorways, but most people don’t pay attention if you plant them in the middle when there’s other debris such as boxes, cans, and other environmental garbage around. If you’re really sneaky, you can plant them right on top of one of these little objects and the claymore will usually become invisible completely. If you’re not playing defensively and don’t want to focus on your equipment at all, I suggest this method. This also takes away the overall situational awareness that sitrep’rs get from seing where the enemy is on the map due to the randomness.

But if you’re still having trouble picking Scavenger just think, the Pro version gives you extra magazines!!!
