If netbooks start using ARM chips, how will Microsoft survive?

microsoft fear
I joke, I joke, but what will they do? Perhaps it will just mean an even cheaper price point as microsoft takes a loss like they did with the original Xbox. When netbooks first came out, they only ran Linux, and microsoft got scared and changed their mind about ditching XP. It’s too bad the consumer demand for XP over Vista never influenced their decision. That would be out of character for microsoft.

ABI Research predicts that Linux and alternative operating systems will overtake Windows XP in netbook sales by 2012. Reasons cited by ABI include the arrival of low-end ARM-based netbooks, as well as mobile stacks such as the Linux-based Android that are suited for these platforms. Now that ARM chips are the new hotness - the latest and greatest - the buzz word of the day, how many choices does microsoft really have? I just might have to pick up an Android / Ubuntu remix / any-other-flavour of linux netbook soon.
