Install Ubuntu Meerkat 10.10 to fix acpi problems in Lucid Lynx

Posted in fail , Linux

ubuntu-installation2After October rolls by, this shouldn’t be a problem as the updates to 10.04 LTS will fix the acpi problem. However, if you need Ubuntu to run on a twitchy laptop that crashed during bootup or fails to install at all, the Maverick Ubuntu Meerkat 10.10 beta is out now.

The fixes are already in the new version and will make their way into the last release, which was an Long Term Support release, in October.

If you simply cannot upgrade to a beta version, and don’t mind the wait for the LTS fix, try adding this to the end of your kernel boot line.
