One deal at a time sites, old crap or good deals?

There’s a bunch of woot-like sites owned by Liberty Media Corp, or atleast they’re owned by one of the many companies that Liberty owns. I do like Backcountry.com (which is a great ski/snow/skate/outdoor/kayak/etc. store). But then they have these one-deal-at-a-time sites:

http://www.whiskeymilitia.com/ — snowboarding & skateboarding stuff
http://www.tramdock.com/ — All ski stuff
http://www.steepandcheap.com/ — All outdoors / hiking / climbing stuff

What’s with these woot spinoffs? Are they selling all last year’s models? I’ve noticed you see the same things rotate through the site. Like the other day I saw some sweater and a helmet, and then last night I saw them again. Is it safe to say they’re just exploiting the weaknesses of the impulse buyer? To their credit, I can’t find a better price on anything they’ve offered so far (that i’ve looked up anyway), and thats searching amazon, nextag, pricegrabber, and ebay.
