The Parted Magic OS employs core programs of GParted and Parted to handle partitioning tasks with ease, while featuring other useful software (e.g. Partimage, TestDisk, Truecrypt, Clonezilla, G4L, SuperGrubDisk, ddrescue, etc…) and an excellent set of info to benefit the user. An extensive collection of file system tools are also included, as Parted Magic supports the following: btrfs, ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, reiserfs, reiser4, and xfs.

Minimum requirements are a i586 processor and 175MB of RAM. Older versions only required 128MB but had problems booting the kernel properly. The latest version has the modules, udev, and firmware moved into the initramfs image to avoid boot issues.

Last time I tried this distribution, the graphical boot loader was screwy, but that has been removed in favor of the simple color text menu.

You can still check out GParted (Gnome Partition Editor) LiveCD version here: (Live CD, USB, PXE, HD)

GParted Live is a small bootable GNU/Linux distribution for x86 based computers. It enables you to use all the features of the latest versions of the GParted application.

It has less features than Parted Magic, but if you’re just looking to get a graphical partition editor without the bells and whistles of system monitors, file managers, and other disk utilities, it’s usually more than enough to get the job done.
