When you base your decision to buy a game, in this case Battlefield Bad Company 2, on a question such as this, it’s a sure sign of failure. Pfheww… I was worried there for a minute. Call of Duty could have started a bad trend in FPS gaming on the PC. But alas, Battlefield is better than COD on so many levels.
MyInternetServices.com is having a Battlefield Bad Company 2 contest this month during the Beta release. It started on February 9th and ends the day the beta expires. Each week, they will give a prize to the beta player that accumulates the most dog tags. In game, you receive a dog tag for each knife kill you perform. Each week they will be giving away $250 in prize money.
The beta is out right now. You’re stuck with one game type and one map right now, but it’s a big map and, wait for it, the server browser is included. There are hundreds of servers up right now from all over the world. BFBC2 is, without a doubt, 10x better than Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
There it is, simple math: BFBC2 > MW2. The only part that worries me is the whole rental-agreement for a dedicated server. Hopefully the mod community will come out in full force after the MW2 debacle. I’d like to host my own private server and have it show up on the public list of private servers. If I have to rely on a 3rd party to host my server, I have no doubt that whatever hacks come out for the game will work on my server. At least I’ll be able to kick hackers and insta-ban them, well, one can only hope.
